Key Achievements 2017

  • EDUCARE FAMILIES [18 Families: 72 Beneficiaries]

18 mothers/grandmothers with 42 girls and 12 boys benefitted from this program receiving basic food items, all education costs, health care, counseling and winter clothes.

  • Education Support: [30 beneficiaries]

21 girls and 9 boys receive education support namely school fees, Books and stationary, Uniform and foot wares etc           

  • Distribution of Education supplies:

All children (60 girls and 20 boys) have been provided with two pairs of uniforms, socks and a pair Footwares before the beginning of the school session. They have also been provided with sweaters/coats for the winter.

  • Distribution of Uniform & Footwares:

All beneficiaries have been provided with stationary, books, uniforms and Footwares before the beginning of the school session.

  • Distribution of Food supplies:

All Educare Families have been provided with basic nutritious food supplies at the beginning of each month. Along with food supplies, they are also provided items of hygiene like soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pads etc.

  • Medical care/ Health Check up:

All members of the Educare Families (75 Beneficiaries) were provided with Health Check up before the beginning of the session. Height, Weight and normal check up was done to see if they are improving.

A regular check up is also done during family visits each month.

  • Higher Studies and Vocational Training

1 boy graduated in +2 and has a job to support himself.

1 girl graduated in +2 science and is studying Nursing in Australia.

1 girl is working and is helping support her family.

  • Distribution of Summer & Winter clothes:

All Educare Family members have been provided with summer clothes during the festival Dashain. They have also been provided for winter clothes and a pair of shoes.

  • Free Eye Screening:

A mega eye screening camp with free medicines and cataract surgeries was held in Lahachowk!

300 children, women & old people benefitted from this camp.

250 received free medications, 63 received free reading glasses and 10 were provided with free Cataract surgeries

  • Community Centre Built:

In line with CFLG (Child Friendly Local Governance) program, we have recently concluded the building of an Earth bag building in Bamdi, Chapakot! This will serve as a Resource centre for the children and women therein.

This is a 2 room building, where in one room has been built for medical purposes and the other for resource centre!

All Man/Woman power was used from the village which coincided with teaching nearly 25 people the technique of building with earth bag technology.

  • First Aid Awareness:

2 First Aid Awareness class has been held in the office premises for all mothers and two of their elder children. The first one was an introduction while the second one a revision.

We have also provided each family with a First Aid box with emergency medicines and first aid kit.

  • Counseling:

We conducted a ‘group counseling’ for the mothers at the beginning of the year. This focused primarily on taking care of children, how they can be treated with love etc.

Several ‘individual counseling’ have taken place through the year. Some mothers and children have been provided with counseling and this has shown immense development.

  • Gender Based Violence Awareness:

Awareness for Gender Based Violence was organized in the ‘Community Centre’ built by the foundation in Chapakot. 58 women actively participated in this program. The attendees were shown a documentary ‘Life cycle of young girls and women’ followed by an interactive session on GBV, its types and how to combat them. They were also enlightened about the new set of rules mentioned in the constitution.

  • Sanitary pads:

This is an ongoing project. We continue to provide for sanitary pads to Government schools in Chapakot. This is provided for the adolescent girls such that they don’t have to forego school during their periods!

  • Family Visits:

Each Educare Family is visited once every month. This is combined with food distribution, health check up and educational update.
